So today I saw a friend of mine; and he said to me that nearly any time I dye my hair, it doesn't really end up the colour from the box/tube, and that I either have happy accidents with the dye colour, or a hair disaster!
This got me thinking. So I thought I would go back through all my old Facebook pictures from the first time I dyed my hair and see how many turned out the colour it should have been! Facebook didn't let me go all the way back to the first time (which I think was 2011) but I got the earliest to 2012. Also I don't remember all the brands I used/colours but I will do my best with naming the ones I remember.
So this here is my natural colour; (this was taken this year)
I will now go down in order from 2011 to the latest (yesterday).
2011
I have no photo; but the first time I dyed my fair, was pink highlights. I was in Sixth Form and I used a product that I bought from Superdrug. I don't think it exsists anymore. It was a highlighter as well as a fashion colour, so it did bleach my hair a small amount.
2012
My first time having purple. I believe this was a Color XXL purple dye. But I could be wrong. For once this actually came up ok. But it didn't last longer than two weeks.
I'm 99% certain this was done in 2012. But this was my next hair colour. My friend let me use their Manic Panic blue dye. ( I don't remember the exact colour) As you can see, to begin with the colour actually came out super bright and was a beautiful blue, but within a week; I had what I callled "lagoon" hair. Although it was no longer the blue I wanted, I didn't mind the weird green colour.
2013
I don't remember much about this colour, but I know I used manic panic. I believe it was meant to be a rich purple. But ended out plum. I really didn't like it as it was almost a dirty colour.
This dye was Color XXLUltra Bright - Pink. And oh it is ultra bright! Any time I used this dye, it came out amazing everytime. I could never fault their pink and I would come back to use this pink more times in the next 3 years.
Honestly; if you're thinking about Pink, I would definitely reccomend color XXL. This dye lasted quite awhile, but when it faded out, it would go to a light pink, to a peach and then back to my blonde.
2014
You can still see a bit of pink in my fringe, but thin was a few months later. This was using Color XXL - Purple. But as you can see; it isn't very purple and more pink. Although its a different shade of pink, it wasn't the purple I wanted.
2015
Now this is the year; where things when verrrryyyy wrong.
After a while, my hair felt disgustingly dry and dead and I had no option but to cut 75% of my hair off.
As you can see, I still had heeps of green left in my hair. I tried different treatmeants to remove the colour, but oh boy; this colour stuck to my hair!
I then had to cut even more of my hair off once the green growed out a little more.
2016
This was now my natural hair, with a bit of bleach on it to brighten the colour up. I wasn't happy with it because it was still to dark.
So I bleached/dyed it again. This went a bit more extreme with the blonde. I really liked it. Untill my roots grew out. But it just showed that the treatment I was giving my hair was working because my hair was growing very fast.
Unfortunatly my nice blonde hair was going more of a yellow blonde and it wasn't looking too good.
Yesterday I thought I would dye my hair and have light pink and dark purple highlights, to kind of take the edge away from the yellow hair.
The dye I used was Directions I had Neon Blue and cotton pink ( I think)
But the results were not very dark purple and baby pink.
I got silver hair. I don't quite know what went wrong here. But for once, this was a very happy accident.
I LOVE the colour. but I don't think I would ever be able to get this colour again even if i tried!
So, thats my colouring experience.
I don't know what I do wrong (or right) but hair is hair and at the end of the day, it grows back!
So if you're thinking about dying your hair, my advice is jut go for it! its hair, it doesn't matter if it goes wrong, can always be fixed!
